Director of the National Library of Belarus R.S. Motulsky took part in the first meeting of the Republican Public Council for Culture and Arts.


On January 26, at the Mir Castle (Minsk region) took place the first meeting of the Republican Public Council for Culture and Arts at the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus under the chairmanship of Minister of Culture Pavel Latushko.

The Republican Public Council for Culture and Arts was established by the decree of the Council of Ministers of November 24, 2010, № 1719 “On the establishment of the Republican Council for Culture and Arts at the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus”.

The council membership includes celebrated cultural and art workers, chairmen of creative groups, popular artists, researchers and public figures. Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky represents in the Council educational sphere, librarianship and cultural activity.

Participants of the first meeting considered the issues of historical and cultural heritage preservation and theatrical art development.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
