A monthly free thematic meeting with a lawyer on the topic “Right to rest: ordinary and social leaves” took place on December 18. The event was part of joint events of the National Library of Belarus and the Belarusian Republican Union of Lawyers.

Alesya Tomashevskaya, the deputy chairperson of Minsk City Bar Association, gave a public lecture.

The meeting highlighted the legal issues within the framework of the current legislation of the Republic of Belarus related to the procedure, conditions and sequence for the provision of labor leave, compliance with legal procedures for the provision of social leave, as well as the scheduling of holidays and vacation pay.

The attendees were able to ask and receive competent and detailed answers from a lawyer to numerous questions.

The event featured a thematic exhibition of publications from the collections of the National Library of Belarus. The exposition ran in the hall of legal information (room 207b).

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
