On 10 November, at the Conference hall of the National Library of Belarus took place a ceremony of opening of the VII International Bibliological Conference “Libraries and the policy of free access to information and knowledge”.


The conference is arranged by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, the Library Assembly of Eurasia, Belarusian Library Assimilation, the National Library of Belarus, and National Historical-Cultural Museum “Niesvizh”.

Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky opened the VII International Bibliological Conference. The welcoming speeches were delivered by Vladimir Shevelyov, head of Culture and Art and Crafts Institutions of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus; Svetlana Sukhovey, Deputy Chairman of the Standing Commission for education, culture, science and technological progress at the Belarusian National Assembly House of Representatives; Vladimir Shchasny, Chairman of the National Commission of Belarus for UNESCO.

The conference has gathered more than 300 delegates from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania and Switzerland: leading specialists of libraries, museums, publishing houses, educational and research institutions, non-government organizations, representatives of legislative and executive authorities, producers of software, hardware and information product.

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
