On November, 26th, the Mogilev Regional Libray named after V.I. Lenin hosted the presentation and donation ceremony of the first five books of the facsimile edition The Book Heritage of Skaryna.


Representatives of cultural, scientific and educational institutions of the Mogilev Region took part in the event. First deputy chief of the Central administration for ideology, culture and youth affairs of the Mogilev regional executive committee Alla Galushko, dean of the faculty of Slavic philology of the Mogilev State University named after А.А. Kuleshov, Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor Sergey Somov, Associate Professor of the chair of journalism of the Mogilev State University named after А.А. Kuleshov, Candidate of Philology Vitali Evmenkov, and chairman of the Mogilev regional branch of the Union of Writers of Belarus Vladimir Duktov made a welcoming speech to the audience.

Director of the National Library of Belarus and Doctor of Pedagogy Roman Motulsky acquainted the audience with the project and noted that it was timed to the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing being the first facsimile reproduction of all Francysk Skaryna’s books printed by him in Prague and Vilnius. The project is designed for 2013–2017 and is carried out by the National Library of Belarus and the BelVEB Bank. In 2014, the first five volumes have been published.

Dir. Roman Motulsky said the project results would be not only a basic source for historical, philological, cultural and bibliographical researches, but they also would perform a lofty social mission making people reflect on the values which were important for spiritual development of each person being eternal at all times, for all nations and for all kinds of societies.
