The event dedicated to the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book-printing was held on March 23 in the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia.

Roman Motulsky, director of the National Library of Belarus, presented an international scientific and publishing project on facsimile reproduction of the book heritage of Francysk Skaryna and gifted a multivolume facsimile to the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia.

Roman Motulsky told about the main stages of the project and fruitful cooperation in the framework of its implementation with the BelVEB Bank. Thanks to joint efforts in the year of celebration of the 500th anniversary of Belarusian printing, the project was successfully completed, and the unique edition became the core of the festive events that took place all over the world.

The director also presented the National Library of Belarus to the participants of the event: its history, unusual architecture, information resources, valuable collections of editions of past centuries and the library's potential as the largest socio-cultural and information center.

After the presentation ceremony Roman Motulsky negotiated with Giorgi Kekelidze, the General Director, and he learn about the work of the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia during the excursion.

The document aimed to strengthen intercultural relations between the libraries, was signed on March 22 in the framework of the expanded negotiations between the Presidents of the Belarus and Georgia. The Memorandum of Cooperation between the National Library of Belarus and the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia creates conditions for cooperation in the field of science and culture, dissemination and exchange of information resources.
