A memorial stand "Always in the Ranks, Forever in the Memory!" has opened in the library on May 14. The event is part of "The Lesson of Courage and Honor" campaign.

Photos and information about the thirteen library employees, who took part in the Great Patriotic War, are on display.

The project uses materials from the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, as well as from the book З любоўю пра бібліятэку (the history of the library in memoirs) and the albums about the Great Patriotic War Кніга народнай славы, Летапіс народнай славы. 1941–1945.

The event began with a minute of silence in honor of those who perished in the Great Patriotic War.

The official opening of the stand was attended by first deputy director of the National Library of Belarus Elena Dolgopolova, chair of Pervomayski District Organization of the Belarusian Peace Foundation Margarita Savchik, and member of Minsk City Council of Deputies Roman Nikonov.

A special guest was Alina Galuzo, the daughter of chief bibliographer Galina Kirilenko, who was awarded medals "For Military Merit" and "For the Capture of the City of Konigsberg." She shared her mother’s memories about the wartime.

The event was organized by the National Library of Belarus, the administration of Pervomaisky District of Minsk and the Belarusian Peace Foundation.

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.
