The Holy Easter

Most part of the exhibition is the miniature book of the XIX–XXI centuries: collections of Catholic motets and prayer books, collections of Orthodox icons, religious prose and poetry.

“The Painted Gospel of Palekh” (2005) illustrated with the miniatures by artists from the old center of iconography in Palekh town (Russia) is the most interesting exhibit.

This unique book is the first attempt to develop an artistic concept of the Gospel with observance of the oldest traditions and principles of the Russian school of iconography, the canons of Orthodoxy, and careful preservation of the original Palekh school of iconography and miniature.
