Reference and Information Service Department
The department provides reference, bibliographic and information services to users and legal persons, both inside the building of the library and remotely, using the possibilities of modern information technology.
Activities
- Providing access to electronic resources created by the National Library of Belarus, the full repertoire of acquired data bases of the world’s leading producers, scientific resources of the Internet, advising users when searching for information;
- qualified assistance when using the reference and bibliographic apparatus of the library;
- providing documents from the subsidiary fund (over 70,000 universal reference, encyclopedic, bibliographic and information publications);
- providing reference services to remote users via online directories "Ask a Librarian" and KORUNB, available on the library portal;
- creation and support of card files on Belarusian studies;
- compiling lists of literature on a subject;
- editing of a research work bibliography;
- clarification of bibliographic information on publications, execution of factual inquiries, media monitoring;
- workshops for users on the basics of information culture: individual and group advising on reference aids of the library, searching in electronic information resources, the use of virtual library services, compiling bibliographic descriptions;
- maintenance of visually impaired users using an electronic magnifying lens;
- information services under treaty for legal persons;
- bibliographic refinement of requests received through the interlibrary loan, through the Electronic Document Delivery Service, from the reading rooms of the library, etc.;
- research and methodological work on the profile of the department.
