On November 29, 2007, participants of the permanent seminar of heads of national and district governmental bodies “Renaissance of Belarusian towns and villages – a priority task of social and economic development of the country” visited the National Library of Belarus.
Every Belarusian region is a unique area with different ethnographic, historical and economic living conditions. The main tasks of the State programme are the development of cultural institutions in Belarusian regions and towns, safekeeping of national historic and cultural heritage, and spiritual and esthetic education of population.
Belarusian towns played a large role in national history. Many of them used to be spiritual, cultural, and educative centres of a region. Today Belarusian towns rise again and attract tourists from all over the world.
The National Library of Belarus and Belarusian regional cultural institutions organized an exhibition “Culture of Belarusian Towns” which totals over 400 materials: models of architectural monuments, photo albums, booklets, postcards, catalogues of art exhibitions, books, advertising materials etc.
