The most significant works by Aleksey Kulakovsky are novels of a duology A Farewell Not For Long and A Meeting At The Crossroads in which the epic talent of the writer manifested, and also a story Daughter-in-Law which became his most perfect work. The post-war decades are the major theme of Aleksey Kulakovsky’s works. As a participant of the Great Patriotic War, the author was among the first Soviet writers who portrayed the ordinariness of the war and an unfeigned heroism of common soldiers. The duology A Farewell Not For Long and A Meeting At The Crossroads, a novel Roads Known and Unknown, stories White Falcon, Before The Sunrise, The Route to Klichev, Yours Way Ahead Of You, Bread-Cutter, and also numerous short stories are a creative contribution of the writer to the chronicles of the Great Patriotic War.

Alongside with military thematic the writer payed attention to life of his contemporaries about whom he wrote simply and sincerely in his books Dabraseltsy, New Rendezvous, The Suns Is Rising Well, Unforgettable Echoes etc.

Aleksey Kulakovsky wrote also short stories for children.

To the modern reader will appreciate the vital truth, respect and love of the common people and attention to their inwardness which the author skilfully depicted creating expressive psychological portraits of his heroes.

The exhibition presents the author’s Collected works and separate editions of stories and short stories, the first publications of the author in periodicals, separate issues of literary magazine Maladost which editor-in-chief he was in 1953–1958, and collected works of various artists including Aleksey Kulakovsky’s writings. Dyubaylo and others. The writer’s creativity became a subject of a dissertational research by S. Gusak which resulted in a critical-biographic essay Aleksey Kulakovsky (1967).
