From 14 September to 6 October, a book exhibition dedicated to the Library Day (15 September) runs at the National Library of Belarus (the 2nd floor, circular hall)
The beginning of the 21st century is a new period in the development of library activity. New information carrier, hardware and technologies actively take root in library practice. New possibilities are invented to give an access for everyone to information in any time, place, from any library in the world online. Information space spreads, time of information delivering to users restricts. For the library service it is typical both globalization (access to the world information resources) and individualization (giving the possibility to use information at home, work and in a library).
Nowadays libraries are important information, social and cultural centers, active subjects of making information society.
To the professional holiday, the Library Day (15 September), the National Library of Belarus represents to readers a book exhibition "The Library World". The exposition contains over 150 books published for last 3 years. They include the editions on the history of libraries, the main courses of library and bibliographic activity, administration, management and marketing, sociological and science researches, innovations in users’ service, contemporary information technologies. There are on display materials that reflect foreign experience of librarianship.
A separate section devoted to the popular science magazine "Bibliotechny mir" ("The Library World") which commemorates this year its 15th anniversary. One can always find on its pages useful materials both theoretical and practical, official documents, articles on actual librarianship issues, advisories and etc. Issues on library activity of all kinds and types, corporation cooperation, experience of international cooperation are covered in the magazine. There are often placed articles of the National Library of Belarus staff on the pages of the magazine.
Exposition materials can be interested to specialists and representatives of different library science fields.
