A round table session "Free acquisition sources for Belarusian libraries” took place on 25 March at the National Library of Belarus.
The event was prepared by the National Library of Belarus in cooperation with Belarusian Library Association.
The round table gathered more than 80 participants: heads and specialists of republican, regional and district libraries and school and university libraries.
The Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus was represented by Deputy Head of Publishing and Book Trade Administration R.A. Babaryko and Consultant of Production and Technical Development Administration T.N. Kuleshova.
T.V. Kuzminich, Deputy Director of the National Library of Belarus for Information Resources delivered a welcoming speech.
The urgent issues of Belarusian libraries acquisitions, and also the questions concerning redistribution of free legal deposit copy and donations to libraries from individuals and organizations were considered at the meeting. Participants delivered reports dedicated to the potential of national document exchange system as an effectual source of library acquisitions. Librarians shared their experiences in the field of effective use of free acquisition sources for library stacks development.
