The event was organized by the National Library of Belarus, the Public Association Belarusian Fund for Culture (BFK), the editorial offices of the newspapaers Zvyazda and Krajaznaychay Gazeta.

In Belarus, 2018–2020 will be held under the sign of the Year of Native Land. This means that the attention of state institutions and active citizens will be focused on the native land, which is close to each person. For some, this is their native village, city, street or small courtyard, for others is a piece of wildlife, or maybe the whole country.

At the event, representatives of metropolitan and regional museums, libraries, art galleries and mass media told about their work within the framework of the republican project.

The chairman of the Belarusian Fund for Culture, Tadeush Struzhetsky shared the results of the Fund’s activities within the framework of the Year of Native Land: the project “My Kin is My Motherland” was implemented, and the column “Blessings to the Native Land” in the newspaper Krajaznaychay Gazeta was established. Also, the Belarusian Fund for Culture maintained the republican contests ” Library is Environment of National Culture”, in cooperation with the National Library of Belaru, and "The Honored Persons of my Native Land”, jointly with the newspaper Zvyazda.

The first deputy director of the National Library of Belarus, Elena Dolgopolova presented electronic resources and virtual library projects dedicated to the Year of Native Land.

The event guests got acquainted with the novelties of local history literature from the collections of the National Library and the publications of local ethnographers, cultural institutions and public associations. The exhibition also featured selected materials sent to the republican contest "The Honored Persons of my Native Land”.

All materials are provided by the Public Relations Department.
