On February 23rd, the Vilnius Belarusian Gymnasium named after F. Skaryna hosted a symbolic event – the holiday of Francysk Skaryna in Vilnius.


With the support of organizers the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Lithuania , the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus and the National Library of Belarus , the students and their teachers presented a cultural program; representatives of Belarus and Lithuania made official reports, and well-known scientists read their papers. As part of the event, a presentation of latest publications was made, many of which were transferred to the Belarusian Gymnasium in Vilnius.

The festival was attended by representatives of the Belarusian Embassy in Lithuania, the City Hall of Vilnius, the Department for National Minorities, Deputy Minister of Information of Belarus Alexander Karlyukeviіch, Deputy Director of the National Library of Belarus and chairman of the International Association of Belarusianists Alexander Susha, a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences Alexander Lukashanets, Lithuanian writers Yaronimos Lautyus and Vytautas Zheymantas, chairman of the Belarusian club “Syabryna” Valentin Steh, the students and teachers of the Vilnius Belarusian Gymnasium named after F. Skaryna, and others.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to July 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
