The Virtual Reading Room of the National Library of Belarus (NLB) provides organizations of the Republic of Belarus an opportunity to gain access to electronic information resources of the world's best manufacturers.


In 2014, for its partners in the Virtual Reading Room the NLB offers the following databases:

EBSCO is a multifunctional search platform that provides instant access to the world’s scientific literature in electronic format. The databases of EBSCOhost include editions of Blackwell Publishing, Springer, Harward Business School, Taylor & Francis, Sage Publications, etc.

Users of the Virtual Reading Room have open access to 11 databases.

Integrum is the world’s largest electronic archive of the most authoritative resources of information in Russia and the CIS countries.

It contains more than 500 million digitized materials from more than 10 000 resources: full-text versions of the national and regional media, texts of works of Russian and foreign literature, analytical studies, catalogues of industrial products, documents of Rospatent and more.

Every day Integrum is replenished with more than 40 000 documents. Archives of some editions have already been keeping for 10 years. Documents in the database are represented in Russian, Ukrainian and English languages.

Grebennikon is the Russian-language database which contains 25 titles of electronic journals of the publishing house Grebennikov on marketing, management, finance. It contains publications on a wide range of topics: structural and strategic management, financial analysis, sales management, project management, investment planning, tax planning, personnel management, Internet marketing, advertising, etc.

Databases of East View Publications contain full texts of the central and regional newspapers published in Russia, Ukraine, CIS and Baltic countries as well as news of the world’s news agencies.

Users have access to the full texts of the most respected magazines of the Russian Academy of Sciences which are related to social sciences and humanities; literary magazines, periodicals on military and security issues as well as publications of official documents of state authorities of the Russian Federation, publications of the State Committee on Statistics, the Interstate Statistical Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States. All resources fully correspond to their printed versions.

Users of the Virtual Reading Room have open access to 12 databases.

The electronic library system IQlib includes more than 80 000 full-text digital versions of publications – books, textbooks, monographs. It contains theoretical and practical journals, books on engineering, information science, natural, physical, mathematical, social sciences and the humanities.

GALE: Biography in Context is a reference information electronic database which includes about 1 million records about prominent people and their achievements. The database contains more than 600 000 biographies of scientists, actors, athletes and others that are based on more than 170 encyclopedias, information from periodicals, manuscripts, various multimedia materials.

A joint work of the NLB and other libraries of our country will enable to form a subscription to electronic information resources on mutually advantageous terms and will contribute to the organization of the information space of Belarus.

We present the updated virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region": on the 205th anniversary of the composer's birth

On May 5, the 205th anniversary of the birth of Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819–1872), the world-famous composer and conductor, our countryman, who made a significant contribution to the formation of Belarusian musical culture, is celebrated. By this date, the National Library of Belarus has updated the already existing virtual project "Stanislaw Moniuszko. Musical romantic from Minsk region", created five years ago, and now replenished with new unique materials.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.

On April 25, the National Library of Belarus hosted the opening of the exhibition "Dreams about Belarus", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders and the 85th anniversary of the birth of People's Artist of Belarus Vasily Sharangovich.
