The book illustrative exhibition “The magic of flowers” has been opened in the fine arts reading room (306) since March 1 till March 30.
A flower is one of the best nature’s creations. People have always valued its fine and unique beauty, smelled its pleasant fragrance, admired its petals and buds. Every flower had its own sense, many of which were included in various ceremonies and rituals, were attributes of everyday and spiritual life. In modern world flowers still accompany people and are always associated with something pleasant and perfect.
The topic of flowers hasn’t left indifferent artists: many creators dedicated to them songs and poems. This topic was embodied in paintings as well. According to an artist G. O’Keffe, the majority of people in cities are always in a hurry, so that they don’t have time to look at every flower. Exposed materials give an opportunity to visitors to do this.
Reproductions of C. Monet, A. Renoir, Van Gogh, P. Gauguin, P. Cézanne, H. Matisse, K. Korovin, I. Grabar, P. Kuznetsov, P. Konchalovsky, N. Sapunov acquaint with a variety of flowers in paintings. Works of Belarusian authors are presented at the exhibition as well – I. Khrutsky, L. Marchenko, A. Gugel, B. Arakcheev, E. Barkhatkova, etc.
Editions on floristry and the art of flower arrangement – ikebana, and festive postcards, photos and calendars with flowers are included in the exposition.
The exhibition includes more than 50 documents.
