The National Library of Belarus took part in the international conference "Three Decades of Partnership of CIS Libraries: Guidelines and Development Strategy" as part of the events held to celebrate Dushanbe's designation as Commonwealth Capital of Culture 2021" and timed to the 30th anniversary of the formation of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The conference was held on September 29–30 at the National Library of Tajikistan (Dushanbe). The organizers were the Executive Body of State Authority of Dushanbe, the National Library of Tajikistan, the Russian State Library, and the Eurasia Library Assembly, with support from the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States.
Heads and specialists of major libraries in the CIS countries from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan attended the event.
The aim of the event was to summarise the achievements of CIS libraries in the context of a 30-year partnership and to propose long-term strategies for cooperation.
Ms Knizhnikava, Director General of the National Library of Belarus, made a report "CIS Libraries in the Context of Professional Cooperation: Experience of the National Library of Belarus" and shared the experience of our Library in expanding information and cultural ties and strengthening professional communications between the libraries of the CIS countries at the plenary session.
During the session "When you have thought about what lies ahead, when you have chosen a good goal, go straight to it (Abul Qasim Ferdowsi)" Ms Knizhnikava and Ms Sharamietsjieva, Head of the Information Centre of the National Library of Belarus, took part in the discussion on the key aspects of cooperation in the formation of national segments of electronic content in the libraries of the CIS countries.
