On January 26, a teaching tour was conducted for students of secondary school No. 111 in Minsk, as part of the project “Outstanding People of the Motherland”. The event was focused on the life and work of the classic of Belarusian literature, famous prose writer, poet and playwright, Vladimir Korotkevich.

During the tour, the young adults got acquainted with the architectural features of the National Library of Belarus, its information resources and services, and tried to use the electronic catalog by searching for the famous writer’s works.

The tour traditionally featured an interactive class. A multimedia presentation about the life and career of Vladimir Korotkevich and a thematic book exhibition from the collections of the National Library of Belarus were presented to the students. The young adults learned new interesting facts from the biography of the writer, repeated and consolidated the material they studied at school, and also performed creative tasks testing their knowledge of the writer's work and the history of his native country.

In the Year of Native Land in Belarus, the library also offers the publications about Rogachev, the city where the house, built by Vladimir Korotkevich’s grandfather in 1914, is located, and where many famous works of the Belarusian classic were conceived and written.

We invite you to join the teaching tour series “Outstanding People of the Motherland”, focused on the life and work of Vladimir Korotkevich, Yanka Kupala, Yakub Kolas, Maxim Bogdanovich, Kandrat Krapiva, Yanka Maur, Mikhas Zaretsky, Francysk Skaryna, and Mark Chagall.
