A book exhibition "Music as a sequel of life” timed to the 125th birthday of Belarusian composer and honored cultural worker of Belarus Aleksey Turenkov (1886–1958) runs in reading room 305 from January 12 to February 19.


Aleksey Turenkov is one of the outstanding composers-founders of the modern Belarusian composer school who had worked zealously for national professional music.

Aleksey Turenkov’s rich music heritage includes works of multiple genres from operas “Flower of Happiness” and “Serene Dawn” to children’s songs. He wrote music and libretto for the ballet “Forest Fairytale”, cantata “To Pushkin”, string quartet music, romances based on the poems of A. Prokofiev, Y. Kolas, Y. Kupala, М. Bogdanovich, music for theatrical plays and movies, Belarusian folk songs interpretations and other.

The exhibition presents books and periodical articles about Aleksey Turenkov’s life and career, as well as printed music and audio records of the composer’s works.

The quest tour "The road of the Great Victory"

On May 15, on the International Family Day, the National Library of Belarus was visited by members of the Belarusian Association of parents with many children in the Pervomaisky district of Minsk. They took part in the quest tour "The road of the Great Victory", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders.
