From 29 June to 15 August, a book-documentary exhibition "My Motherland is in my heart" runs at the National Library of Belarus (3rd floor, circular corridor).


Information about Belarusians can be found in Argentina, Australia, UK, USA, Canada, Central and Western Europe and Central Asia, the Baltic countries and even in such exotic as Kenya or New Zealand. Belarusian diaspora in the whole world created a number of scientific and cultural communities on the national and spiritual basis, based on the principles of national self-determination, identity and patriotism, preservation of the Belarusian language and national traditions.

The Republic of Belarus gained a certain experience in cooperation with compatriots abroad. Cultural heritage of Belarusians abroad gradually joins to the cultural heritage of the entire Belarusian nation.

In the Year of Book, the National Library of Belarus and the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature have prepared a book-documental exhibition-show "My Motherland is in my heart" presenting about 120 books on the history of Belarusian diasporas and works of Belarusian writers and poets living abroad.

At the exhibition the special place is taken by following works: an encyclopedic handbook "Хто ёсць хто сярод беларусаў свету" (Who is among Belarusian society), created with support from the State Committee for Religious and Ethnic Affairs in accordance with the State program "The Belarusians in the World" by the Francysk Skaryna National Scientific and Educational Centre at the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus together with The International Association Civic Belarus, popular science edition "Беларускае замежжа" (Belarusian foreign contries) published by the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus; "Паваенная эміграцыя: скрыжаванні лёсаў" (Post-war emigration: crossroads of fates) is a collection of memories of 73 representatives of Belarusian diaspora who turned out after 1944 in Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Germany, France, the Czech Republic and other countries around the world, "Зваротныя дарогі" (The way back) is a book by Ales Pashkevich, dedicated to Belarusian prose of emigration of the twentieth century.

A separate section presents a series of "Бібліятэка Бацькаўшчыны" (The library of the Fatherland) published by the international public association The World Association of Belarusians "Baćkaŭščyna".

The literature of Belarusian foreign countries represented by such names as A. Barsky, Y. Veselovsky, S. Volodko, V. Kalina, B. Duditsky, V. Shwed, Y. Chikvin, S. Yanovich, etc.

The quest tour "The road of the Great Victory"

On May 15, on the International Family Day, the National Library of Belarus was visited by members of the Belarusian Association of parents with many children in the Pervomaisky district of Minsk. They took part in the quest tour "The road of the Great Victory", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders.
