On 26 June, a grand opening of a book-documental exhibition-show “My Motherland is in my heart” was held at the National Library of Belarus.
The welcoming speech was made by Deputy Director for Service users and ideology of the National Library of Belarus Elena Dolgopolova; Belarusian literary critic, novelist, essayist, Ph.D., Professor Adam Maldis; director of the institution "The State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature" Lydia Makarevich; Belarusian poet, essayist, director of the radio station Belarus, Member of the Belarusian Writers’ Union Nahum Galperovich; employee of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts Galina Ivut; chairman of the society "Belarus – Belgium" Tamara Antonovich; author of "Беларусы ў Аўстраліі" (Belarusians in Australia), "Беларусы ў Вялікабрытаніі" (Belarusians in Great Britain) Natalia Gordienko; Ph.D., scholar, author of books, devoted to Belarusians in foreign countries Lydia Savik.
The people’s folk ensemble "Gamanіna" from the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (director – Natalia Sazanovich) played instrumental works and songs.
In the Year of Book, the National Library of Belarus and the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature have prepared a book-documental exhibition-show “My motherland is in my heart” presenting about 70 books on the history of Belarusian diasporas and works of Belarusian writers and poets living abroad. The exposition features rare materials from the stocks of the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature.
