The National Library of Belarus along with the publishing house “Мастацкая літаратура” present a book Францыск Скарына. Са слаўнага горада Полацка on May 3.


The publication is dedicated to the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing and is supported by the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus.

The edition includes bright and original sketches created during the century of the great Belarusian enlightener Francysk Skaryna’s life and cultural heritage studying. Their authors are outstanding social and cultural figures, writers, scientists, employees of libraries and museums, journalists (M. Goretsky, V. Korotkevich, A. Adamovich, A. Butevich, E. Nemirovsky, V. Picheta, etc.). Collected together, these sketches create a single rich and many-sided image of the first printer, reflect greatness and significance of his work. Depending on the content of compositions, they are presented in four sections – Дзеі Скарыны (Skaryna’s Deeds), Слова Скарыны (Skaryna’s Words), Слава Скарыны (Skaryna’s Glory), Сусвет Скарыны (Skaryna’s World).

This edition is targeted at a wide readership, everyone interested in Belarusian history, its cultural heritage, traditions of book printing and enlightenment.

The compiler of the book is Alexander Susha, the deputy director for research and publishing activities of the National Library of Belarus, culture expert, bibliographer, chairman of the International Association of Belarusianists.

The event begins at 4 p.m. in the gallery “Labyrinth” (3rd floor).

The quest tour "The road of the Great Victory"

On May 15, on the International Family Day, the National Library of Belarus was visited by members of the Belarusian Association of parents with many children in the Pervomaisky district of Minsk. They took part in the quest tour "The road of the Great Victory", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders.
